The main business of Mobicon Group Limited is trading of IC and electronic component. At 1990s, they employed a freelancer to write a program (using DOS) that assisted their daily work, such as consignment note preparation and inventory checking.
With the expansion of business, apart from retail market, they further explored new opportunity of wholesales, manufacturer and overseas market. The software that they used no longer supported their daily work. “Serving manufacturer is totally different from retail.” Ms. Yeung explained, “We needed to schedule for delivery, as they would request different delivery date for same product, so that we had to control the amount of stock accurately. When we served oversea customer, because of different currency, it wasted us lots of time to prepare the quotation. And the most important problem was, the software could not provide any report or analysis for our business development. ”After consideration, Mobicon decided to employ a new business solution.
Q: Why Mobicon select a local software house in stead of International Brand Named Software Provider?
As a listed company in HK, even though Mobicon has sufficient capital support, they never consider to use some world brand ERP system. Ms. Yeung explained, “As I mentioned before, why we can survive is that we can provide what others can not. These world brand software systems are famous but their products are standardized and lack of flexibility. They cannot match our uniqueness and daily operation. What we need is targeted software that tailor-made for us. Moreover, the working culture and operation model in oversea are different from local, if we employ these software, we must take a long time to get used to it. It is unreasonable to put the cart before the horse.”

Before employing the new system, we needed to make several calls before answering our customer. Q: How much time did Mega-Trading™ saved in Mobicon? Mobicon first employ the system in its satellite companies then employ to Mobicon Group after tuning up, this can yield twice the result with half the effort. “In the past, when we got an order, we needed to keep calling purchasing department to check the status of the stock, so there was lots of argument between our staffs. After we installed the system from Create Tech, our workload has been greatly decreased as we can check the real time inventory, stock status, etc, by computer. There is less argument than before, and we have saved about 1/4 working hours. “Moreover, as we use an online version, there is no boundary in the operation of our oversea branched and we can communicate with them easily. Oversea branches can check Hong Kong inventory and price through this system too, this system increase our flexibility.”
Q: How much value did Mega-Trading™ given to Mobicon?
Apart from business development, the system helped the group to save operational cost. “There are more than 320 staffs in Hong Kong, I can't imagine that how large our office needed if all of our staffs worked same building. As warehouse will occupy very large area, with the use of CTS system, the operation of administration and stock can be independent. We can use some building with low rent as warehouse, and we are able to manage the warehouse perfectly even though we are not located in the same building. Now, the rental cost per square foot of warehouse is just 1/3 of administration office. You can imagine that how much we have saved for our cost than before.”
Mobicon has saved lots of resources by using Create Tech system. They are able to reallocate the resource to other area. “This year, we will put more resource in e-marketing, so as to enlarge our company and product exposure.
